The History Behind the Name

Chloride can trace its history back over 130 years, to a time when Queen Victoria sat on the throne of England, Gustave Eiffel completed his eponymous tower in Paris, and an unknown soda bottling company was founded in the US with the name of Coca-Cola.

Industrial uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems manufactured by Chloride are installed in essential industrial environments to serve two purposes:

  1. In the case of mains power failure, they provide an uninterrupted power supply from battery and allow for the safe evacuation of people or shutdown of operational processes.
  2. They provide power filtering capabilities to protect sensitive industrial equipment from power surges or other harmful events.

From energy generation and transmission to transport infrastructure, Chloride’s battery powered UPS systems provide a reliable backup to the power supply, instantly cutting-in when there’s a power outage to maintain operational continuity and safety procedures.

Chloride’s uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems are installed in hazardous, safety critical industrial environments that operate the heaviest of heavy machinery and are often found in challenging locations, such as offshore drilling platforms. In the event of a power failure, abrupt stoppage of immense equipment is extremely dangerous and likely to cause costly damage.

Chloride’s UPS systems provide a battery powered energy supply that can last for several days, enabling machinery to be safely shut down and emergency safety systems to remain fully operational.

They also secure people during the evacuation process by providing power to such critical systems as alarms, signalling, and air ventilation.

Chloride’s uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems can be found in the following essential industries, to ensure the certainty of continuity of the services upon which we all depend to live and work.

  • Transport and Mobility
  • Green and Blue Hydrogen
  • Power Generation
  • Power Transmission and Distribution
  • Alternative Energies
  • Infrastructures and Buildings
  • Energy Industries

Our industrial uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems feature a standalone architecture that enables individual components to be easily replaced and has a very high repairability index. This helps to extend the life of a UPS system to over 25 years. At the end of its life, our engineers carry out a decommissioning process, removing hazardous and toxic components before ethically recycling.

Our industrial UPS systems are powered by salt batteries. Salt is a safe alternative to a lithium electrolyte as it is not combustible, toxic or corrosive and poses no threat to the environment. As salt batteries require no ventilation or fire protection and operate in ambient conditions, they are extremely efficient and consume very little energy.
